David W. Bachtle, 78, of West Chester, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at the Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit in West Chester.
He was the husband of Pauline A. D'Annunzio Bachtle.
Born in Norristown, he was the son of Anita Belford Bachtle of Kennett Square and the late David P. Bachtle.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then joined the family business, Bachtle & Sons in Mendenhall, as a landscape designer. He remained there until the mid-1980s, when he started his own business, Bachtle Landscapes, West Chester. Through his work he brought beauty to this world.
In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and loved fishing. He also enjoyed playing poker, gardening, reading, traveling, eating good food and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife and mother, David is survived by a daughter, Cindy Bachtle of West Chester; and a sister, Karen Reeves of Sadsburyville.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Allan and Donald Bachtle.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Founds Funeral Home Inc., 229 S. High St., West Chester, 610-696-0134, where friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in the Longwood Cemetery.
